Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Collective

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is a collective formed by artists Ines Cardo, Katerina Mimikou, Sophie Dickson and Jessie Evans in 2019. We came together during our BA in Fine Art due to our shared interest in the themes of home, domesticity, social roles, crafts, mental health and community, which our personal practices also approach from different perspectives.

We've exhibited at Tate Modern, Whitechapel Gallery, Wadham College, F.A.T Studios, Peckham Pelican and more.

We aim to revalue the hidden, the embodied, the communal, generational and gendered knowledge, often left aside or looked down upon. We work towards transforming spaces with intimate actions, on a learning from one another philosophy, and understand collaboration as a key element in order to create an open community between artists and the public. We believe that these banal activities are, in fact, performative actions that lead us to establish powerful nets of intimacy.

SAFETY BLANKET

Safety Blanket is a series of ongoing knitting workshops in which participants are invited to knit collectively from the same piece, creating a multiple-edged shape that grows outwards and becomes a starting point for moments of spontaneous intimacy and connection between strangers.
No prior knitting knowledge is required as the collective members will be available to teach beginners, and participants are invited to share their skills amongst one another. This workshop embraces the process of collective learning, and does not aim to create a flawless final artwork: mistakes are welcome to remain in the piece. Participants are engaging in playful creativity and conversation, as the space becomes a therapeutic process that allows simple making to be celebrated and to aid a sense of ease in potentially challenging social settings.
